About WR_CoP_GW	English (USA)
The purpose of the Groundwater Specialty Group is to facilitate communication/collaboration and share expertise regarding groundwater-related habitat issues that come-up in our work for ES and Refuges, including: � Identification of aquatic, riparian and other habitats influenced by (connected to) groundwater; e.g., rivers, streams, springs, wetlands, riparian zones, and groundwater-dependent vegetation. � Characterization of the connection of those habitats to groundwater (surface water-groundwater interactions). � Assessment of the vulnerability of habitats to a range of anthropogenic activities, and (or) changes in climatic conditions, as a result of the connection to groundwater. � Assessment of impacts to groundwater-influenced habitats due to a range of anthropogenic activities, and (or) changes in climatic conditions (rates and timing of groundwater recharge and groundwater-ET). � Development and interpretation of conjunctive surface water-groundwater monitoring programs (quantity and quality) to anticipate and characterize groundwater-related impacts. � Review, application, and oversight for the development of numerical groundwater models (flow and transport) used to estimate impacts to rivers, streams, springs, wetlands, riparian zones, and vegetation influenced by groundwater. � Development and interpretation of conservation strategies for groundwater-influenced habitats.
